lThe teacher will decide which microbes and pollutants to ask students to learn about. The graphic organizer has space for five microbes on each page and there are fifteen total examples. To decrease time spent and limit information students are responsible for, the teacher may choose to only present five and provide a single copy of the graphic organizer.
The teacher will divide the class into groups of five students each. Each student will be assigned one or two pathogens and is responsible for completing the graphic organizer sections fully. Students will then jigsaw the information by round-robin presenting their pathogens within the group so all students have access to the information. Alternatively, if the teacher prefers a more guided approach, he or she can go through the information as a class and use the information as a sort of lecture notes for a teacher-guided learning session where the students fill in the graphic organizer as the teacher presents information.
